Madagascar, as many other countries in the world has adopted an electronic request system online. Since January 1, 2018, the government has put online its platform for electronic formalities aimed to travel Madagascar, also called e-Visa. The service enables you to get an online authorization to travel to this island and its paradisiac beaches.
The electronic visa for Madagascar has been made in order to ease your access to the visa, but also to relieve the authorities while reducing the risk of error. To get your electronic travel authorization, you only have to fill out the available form. Once they have their visa, travelers will be able to pass the controls more quickly at the counters of the Air Police and at different borders points of the Malagasy Island. The tourist authorizations are valid for a maximum stay of 90 days.
There are two types of visa to go to Madagascar : the short-stay visa and the long-stay visa. The short-stay visa, as the name suggests, allows you to stay up to 90 days on the Malagasy territory, whether for a business trip or tourism.
To get the short visa you just have to fill out the online form with your personal details without forgetting to pay the processing fees.
Your passport should be valid for more than six months after the expected return date. Moreover, the passport must include at least two free pages. The following supporting documents will be required to obtain a short or long stay visa: two original and recent passport photos and a copy of the Round Trip ticket.
The long-stay visa (more than 90 days) works pretty similarly to the short-stay visa. It is mostly made for investors, expatriate workers, trainees, retirees, or those benefiting from family reunification laws. To get it, you must go to a consulate or to the Embassy of Madagascar.
After your request for the electronic travel authorization, some time is needed for the registration and validation of your application.
The standard duration of a validation of an e-visa is a few minutes. However, if there are missing files, you will be notified within 72 hours of your registration, and will be told which steps to follow.
Deadlines for other administrative procedures are available on specific requests.
