Before starting your trip, you should inquire about the formalities of entry and stay.

General conditions to stay
Whatever the reason and the length of your stay, you must have a valid for at least 6 valid months
after the date of your entry passport and a proof of departure from the territory (return ticket).
To get a business visa, a letter of invitation from a local business partner or sponsor is required. You
have to pay to get this document. The application procedures vary according to the nationality of the
traveler.

Traditional visa exemption for European citizens

Getting a visa
French and Canadian citizens can get an electronic travel authorization. Belgian and Swiss citizens do not yet benefit from this possibility. This single entry visa is valid for 30 days. To apply for an authorization, it is necessary to have the following information:

• indicate the city of entry,
• attach a scanned copy of the passport,
• attach a photo ID,
• know your city of entry into the country (the document is valid only at this border post),
• pay the requested amount on a secure online payment.

A delay of 3 working days is necessary to receive the answer. Be careful, the answer is not sent by e-mail. You must go to the website and indicate your file number.
Once the visa has been issued, it must be printed and presented to the Vietnamese customs upon arrival in the country. An entry stamp on the passport is then given to you by the customs officer.

Make a request at your arrival

To get an electronic authorization from Tourism on arrival, you must enter the country by an international flight, so either at Da Nang Airport, Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) or Hanoi. A letter of invitation from immigration services may be required. This is an official Vietnamese document that guarantees entry upon your arrival. You can get the official authorization online. The request must be made to an organization specialized in the delivery of such a document.

The authorization is valid for two years (or, if your passport expires earlier, until its expiry date). It allows you to make several trips back and forth. Remember that if you need to renew your passport, it will also be necessary to renew your application.

The E-visa application process happens in four steps :
• Access the online form and inform the required data
• Pay the administrative fees
• Receive a confirmation email containing the final decision
• Print the official document.

Some agencies offer this service without obligation to purchase circuits.
In order to receive this valuable document, it is necessary to apply online with a scanned copy of the passport and the date and airport of arrival in the country. Delivery of the document is done by e-mail within a minimum of 3 working days. Your passport must be valid and you need a valid payment method to pay the fees.

On arrival, you will have to :
• be in possession of the official letter of invitation,
• provide 2 passport photos,
• go to the « Visa on arrival » desk at the airport upon your arrival in Vietnamese territory,
• pay the sum requested. Payment can be made in US dollars or euros.

The document is only valid once during the trip. It is renewable with the authorities of the country.

Visa extension

During a stay, it is possible to extend the document. This authorization extends over the entire period of validity of the document. Visas valid for one month are extendable for one month. Those valid for three months may be extended for three months and those valid for six months may extend for another six months.
The extension process can last up to a week. It is therefore advised to file the extension request at least two weeks before the current visa expires.
The application must be submitted to the Vietnamese immigration services, on the e-visa tourism website or from a Vietnamese travel agency.
